I still remember the days when dress codes were in vogue... Down South, it was so austere, that girls were not even allowed to ride bicycles because it was believed that riding bicycles would rip apart the hymen, and cause unwanted misunderstandings later in marriage. So, a girl riding a bicycle was frowned upon, not for riding a bicycle, but for deriding a cultural establishment.
It so happened that one day, papa gifted a bicycle to my elder brother. I was waiting...
